India Christians Construct New Church Building In The Face Of Great Persecution
A growing congregation of bible-believing Christians are currently constructing a new church building in southern India in the face of great persecution from India’s Hindu government and local Hindu leaders.
Pastor Johnson, a pastor affiliated with NewLife Missions, started holding worship services in 2013 in the village of Sathankulam, which is in the Tirunelveli District in the southern India state of Tamil Nadu. Even in the face of great persecution from India’s Hindu government, Pastor Johnson’s church has grown to 35 dedicated followers of Jesus.
NewLife Missions is a non-denominational Spirit-filled bible-believing group of churches lead by Pastor T.M. Joseph from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
Because this church has outgrown the ability to meet in homes, they have tried to rent buildings in which to hold their weekly services and prayer meetings. But because most Hindus are strongly opposed to Christianity, finding a building to rent has been nearly impossible. Therefore, construction of their own building is the only long-term answer to meet the needs of their growing congregation.
The completed building will hold 100 people for weekly services, as well as provide a modest living space for Pastor Johnson and his family.
Funds for construction have largely come from contributions made through NewLife India Inc.

Woman Walks After Life-Long Paralysis
Savita, a life-long Hindu, has suffered all of her life with both legs and one hand unable to function. Recently, two NewLife church members who knew Savita, convinced her to attend church services with them in the village of Periyapalayam. During the worship time – without anyone directly praying for her – Savita was completely healed by the power of Jesus! She immediately accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and stood on her own two legs and clapped her hands in praise and thanksgiving to the God who heals. She walked out of the church service totally healed, and remains that way today. Thank You Jesus for physically healing Savita, but even more for giving her eternal life through Your shed blood. And thanks to our local pastor in Periyapalayam, Pastor Matthew, for shepherding a church body that teaches and welcomes the life-changing power of Jesus.
Miracle Baby!
Jagan and Deeba live in Kavarapettai, Tamil Nadu, India, and spent five heart-breaking years trying to conceive a baby. Deeba’s cousin, who is part of NewLife’s women’s group in Kavarapettai, invited her to attend a women’s meeting so that they could all pray for her to conceive. Even though Deeba was Hindu and not Christian, she attended the meeting and allowed the ladies to pray for her. Last Friday, July 15th, 2022, this precious baby boy was born. About three months into the pregnancy, Jagan and Deeba accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, even though the doctors were telling them that the baby would never survive. Jagan and Deeba discovered that Jesus was not only real, but that He cares. New Church Plant in Palakara
This is Pastor Ebi holding a church service in the village of Palakara in the state of Tamil Nadu. For three years he has been trying to plant a church in this village, but has been prevented due to persecution against Christians there. The month God opened a door in Palakara and Pastor Ebi has launched a new work there. Four families have accepted Jesus as Savior and two men have been healed; one from cancer and one from a nerve disease. Praise God!
